The 2024 "Adopt a Bike" campaign invites individuals, families, and organizations to sponsor a bicycle for veterans, kids and other community members in need. This program aims to make bicycles accessible to those who lack reliable transportation and could benefit from the health, mobility, and economic opportunities that a bike provides. Sponsors will be recognized for their generosity while directly improving lives in their community.
In 2024 WashCo Bikes has already given several thousands of bikes to the people who need them most so they can have reliable and sustainable transportation. This can only happen with volunteers and financial help.
Along with each bike, we provide a helmet, lock, and training for safety and security.
Here’s how you can help!
Make a Donation
Monetary donations help cover the cost of materials, tools, and bike accessories as well as transportation of bikes from pick up to distribution sites.
- $25.00 donation provides a helmet to ensure safety for riders.
- $50.00 donation provides a lock and light kit for security and visibility.
- $150.00 donation will give a child in Washington County, a bike, helmet & lock
- $200.00 donation will give an adult in Washington County, a bike, helmet and lock
We suggest using our secure online payment platform but you can also mail it or drop it off at WashCo Bikes, 137 NE 3rd Ave. Hillsboro, OR. 97124
Enlist your employer
Ask your employer to if they use a matching donor platform such as Benevity. If they do, please use that to make your donation and with the help of your employer, your donation has doubled.
Your employer may also choose to sponsor a specific number of bikes, helmets, or locks to support those
who need them. Some employers will even sponsor a bike rodeo for the children of employees.
Volunteer
Help refurbish bikes! Volunteer hours are crucial to the success of this program. Your time and skills can directly help prepare bikes for distribution.
Spread the Word
Share the program with your friends, family, and social media networks. The more people who know, the more bikes we can donate and refurbish!
Thank you for your support!
