Top Shelf Bicycle Education Instructors Needed!!
We're creating a corral of paid instructors to teach our year 'round menu of classes and clinics at Hillsboro Stadium (with plans to bring bike safety education and Skills Town to more sites across the Metro Area.)
Beginning November 5, we're rolling out Bike Skills and Safety Town - in an exciting partnership between the City of Hillsboro and WashCo Bikes. When Covid hit, many bicycle education programs went dark. The City of Hillsboro has partnered with our bicycle coalition to host ongoing classes and clinics on Thursdays afternoons and Saturday Mornings year round. The stadium will provide a weather proof covered area to hold classes on the long, wide cement concourse. They are also building a traffic safety garden, donating the use of four parking lots for closed course classes and safety garden, building a world-class pump track and grooming wood trails for use by cyclists. Grassy areas and the field itself will also be at our disposal. This program is being managed to all OHA COVID safety rules and beyond. The class sizes will be limited in number and broken into safe distance PODS. The City of Hillsboro will provide masks, sanitation, safe drop off and pick up, and staff to oversee and clean touch points etc. There will be no inside instruction.
Instructors will be paid $20/hr with training available and flexibility to choose which classes and dates they want to teach. These part-time, regularly scheduled classes offer instructors some supplemental cash and the opportunity to grow into long-term, larger roles and full-time positions as the program expands. The program is being established permanently to continue after covid passes. Pump Class classes and events will be added when the track construction is complete. WashCo Bikes will also host and base our summer bicycle camps out of these facilities.
Support Coordinator, Volunteer
The Support Coordinator supports our Executive Director, Shop Manager, Board of Directors, and volunteer staff to ensure that our events and programs are well managed. The support coordinator supports the organizers of our events and educational programs, answers mail and e-mail and directs inquiries to the appropriate persons, coordinates press coverage and marketing, and ensures that essential organizational tasks are covered to help WashCo Bikes meet its commitments.
This is a rewarding opportunity that requires up to 10 hours/week, strong organizational skills, computer skills, marketing or PR skills, and a high level of personal integrity and responsibility. Our outgoing Support Coordinator is ready to train a new Support Coordinator to ensure the continuity of this key position.
